MHC Mobility welcomes new Managing Director for Germany and Austria – Strengthening the operating business and expanding performance in the DACH region

Bockel, June 16, 2025 – European mobility service provider MHC Mobility announces the appointment of Rainer Thies as the new Managing Director of its branches in Germany and Austria. He succeeds Ryjan Rutgers, who is retiring at the end of June after five years of dedicated and successful leadership.

MHC Mobility DACH manages over 11,000 vehicles in Germany and Austria and offers comprehensive, flexible mobility solutions – including car subscriptions, e-mobility and the rental of commercial vehicles.

With more than 25 years of experience in the German automotive and finance sector – including senior positions at Santander Consumer Leasing, VCFS and Athlon – Rainer Thies brings extensive expertise, strategic foresight and a deep understanding of the local market.

“We are delighted to welcome Rainer to our team,” said Jon Lawes, Managing Director of MHC Mobility Europe. “His many years of experience and visionary leadership will play a key role as we continue to grow our business and deliver even greater value to our customers in Germany and Austria.”

At the same time, Lawes expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Managing Director: “Our sincere thanks go to Ryjan Rutgers for his invaluable contribution, commitment and outstanding work over the past five years.”

Rainer Thies will be responsible for the next growth phase of MHC Mobility in the DACH region with a clear focus on innovation, customer experience and operational excellence.

“I am very much looking forward to leading the talented team in Germany and Austria and building on the strong foundation of MHC Mobility,” says Thies. “Together, we want to set new standards in the industry and actively drive development in these dynamic markets.”

Focus on growth and innovation

Rainer Thies plans to drive forward MHC Mobility’s growth and innovation strategy in a targeted manner. In particular, the focus will be on the further development of the product portfolio, digital transformation, operational efficiency and the use of technology-based solutions. The aim is to sustainably increase customer satisfaction and further strengthen the company’s market position.

“We are convinced that Rainer will provide new impetus with his leadership personality,” says Jon Lawes. “Through a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, we want to create sustainable growth and offer our stakeholders real added value.”
