Tax Benefits of an Opel as a Company Car
The monthly payment for an Opel car subscription is generally treated for business purposes as business expense is deducted and reduces taxable income. If an Opel company car is also used for personal purposes, different rules apply depending on the type of powertrain.
Opel models with internal combustion engines, such as the Corsa, Astra, or Combo, are taxed as a non-cash benefit under the 1-percent rule based on the gross list price when used as private company cars. In addition, 0.03 percent per kilometer traveled is added for trips between home and the primary place of work.
Fully electric Opel models such as the Mokka Electric, Corsa Electric, or Combo Electric are taxed at just 0.25 percent of the gross list price, provided the gross list price does not exceed 100,000 euros. This limit was raised from 70,000 euros to 100,000 euros effective July 1, 2025 (Section 6(1)(4) of the Income Tax Act). If the gross list price exceeds 100,000 euros, the 0.5 percent rule applies.
All-electric vehicles are also exempt from motor vehicle tax for ten years from the date of initial registration, but no later than December 31, 2035, provided that initial registration takes place by December 31, 2030 (Section 3d of the Motor Vehicle Tax Act [KraftStG], extended by the Eighth Act Amending the Motor Vehicle Tax Act of December 2025). The specific tax classification should be discussed with a tax advisor.

An Opel car subscription differs from traditional leasing in several ways: no down payment, no fixed 36-month commitment, maintenance and insurance included, and no residual value risk. Anyone trying out the Opel car subscription or comparing it to Opel leasing should pay particular attention to contract flexibility, included services, and the provider’s service structure. MHC Mobility operates nine service locations in Germany, ensuring that vehicle handover, maintenance, and repair services are available nationwide.
Opel subscription costs depend on the model you choose, the term of the subscription, and the agreed-upon mileage. Because insurance, maintenance, vehicle tax, and other services are already included in the monthly payment, the price can be directly compared to the total cost of leasing or purchasing a vehicle. For a specific quote, MHC Mobility will provide a personalized calculation based on your needs.
When an Opel company car is used for personal purposes, the monetary benefit is calculated either as a flat rate using the 1-percent rule or precisely using a logbook. For fully electric models such as the Mokka Electric, Corsa Electric, or Combo Electric, the reduced 0.25 percent rule applies (up to a gross list price of 100,000 euros); for qualified plug-in hybrids, the 0.5 percent rule applies.
