What is a long-term car rental?
Long-term car rental, also known as long-term car rental or long-term car rental depending on the market segment, is a mobility solution for companies in which a vehicle is rented for a fixed period in return for a monthly flat rate. In addition to the pure vehicle rental, this flat rate also includes registration, insurance, maintenance, wear and tear repairs and other services. There are no down payments or residual value risks, and the vehicle fleet can be flexibly adapted to actual requirements.

SelectRent is the model for companies that need a configured vehicle of their choice for a longer period of time. From a minimum term of 24 months, the vehicle can be equipped according to individual requirements, for example with lettering, company logos and installations and conversions for industry-specific applications. SelectRent is particularly suitable for structured, long-term fleet planning with clearly defined requirements.
FlexiRent: Available immediately, from 1 month term
FlexiRent offers preconfigured vehicles from stock with a minimum term of 1 month. The model is suitable for short-term requirements, bridging and peaks in demand, such as when an additional rental car is needed each month. The contract term can be terminated daily after the initial term.

How does long-term car rental work with MHC Mobility?
Requirements and documents
The conclusion of a contract with MHC Mobility requires the following prerequisites:
- Minimum age 18 years
- Valid driver’s license
- Good credit rating (Schufa query required)
Different documents must be submitted depending on the type of company:
- Corporations (GmbH, AG, KG, OHG): Extract from the commercial register or business registration.
- Partnerships (sole proprietors, GbR, UG): Business registration, Schufa form and identity card of the management.
- Freelancers: ID card, Schufa form and VAT identification number.
If the credit check in the standard procedure is not conclusive, an individual solution is often possible in a personal meeting. After a successful check, interested parties will immediately receive a concrete offer.
Insurance and liability
Third-party car insurance is included in the monthly rate. In addition, there is a reduction in liability in the form of fully and partially comprehensive insurance with an excess of € 950.00 per claim. A reduction in the excess is possible for a net additional monthly amount.
Minimum terms and termination
The minimum term depends on the model chosen: SelectRent from 24 months, FlexiRent from 1 month. Even terms of 3 months, 6 months or 12 months are possible, both models allow terms of up to 60 months. After expiry, the contract is tacitly renewed under the same conditions unless it is terminated. Daily termination is possible at any time thereafter.
Early withdrawal from the contract is possible in return for a compensation amount calculated on the basis of the outstanding installments up to the official end of the contract.
Annual rentals are particularly popular: Anyone wishing to rent a car for a year benefits from predictable monthly installments and the option to cancel the contract at the end of each day or extend it if necessary.

Transparency in pricing is just as important to us as it is to you. That’s why long-term car rental from MHC Mobility comes with no surprises when it comes to the cost of the vehicle.
Monthly fees, ancillary costs and inclusive services
Is a long-term car rental cheap? Important question. With MHC Mobility, the monthly rate for your vehicle already includes all vehicle and service-related expenses in addition to the rental fee. This applies both to our FlexiRent model with flexible terms and a wide selection of preconfigured cars and to our SelectRent model with the option of customized vehicle adaptations, including lettering, the application of company logos and installations and conversions.
We do not charge a deposit or a basic fee for a long-term car rental. There are also no final payments. Issues such as residual value risk or loss of value also do not play a role.
Insurance options and services
While leasing and purchasing a vehicle incurs additional operating and maintenance costs, these expenses are already covered in the long-term car rental from MHC Mobility. The Motor vehicle liability insurance is included in the monthly fee.
Tax aspects of long-term car rental
If company vehicles are also used privately, the non-cash benefit is taxable as part of income. The flat-rate taxation applies regardless of whether the vehicle is purchased, leased or rented.
- Internal combustion engine: 1% of the gross list price per month (1-percent rule).
- Plug-in hybrids: 0.5%, provided certain requirements regarding minimum electric range or CO2 emissions are met.
- Electric vehicles up to €95,000 gross list price: 0.25% of the gross list price per month.
