Support for the Arche Children’s and Youth Home
Doing Good Together
For the past four years, MHC Mobility has been providing vehicles to the Arche Children’s and Youth Home for its big summer trip. This example shows that effective community involvement often starts with what a company does best. In our case, that means providing transportation.
Twenty children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 17 live at the Ark. A dedicated team cares for them around the clock. Throughout the year, there are outings to the Harz Mountains, adventure playgrounds, and amusement parks. But the highlight every year is the eight-day summer vacation trip.
There’s a catch to this trip that’s hardly noticeable from the outside. All the residential groups are going on the trip at the same time, and The Ark’s own service vehicles aren’t enough to accommodate everyone. Without additional vehicles, the groups would have to coordinate, scale back their plans, or stay home.
That’s where we come in. This summer, once again, three minibuses from MHC Mobility were on hand—for the fourth year in a row. This allows each residential group to plan their own vacation and travel flexibly. The buses also brought along games and recreational gifts this time around. The biggest hit was a large donation of balls, including two soccer goals, which are now set up on the Arche’s artificial turf field and are being used extensively even after the summer break.
What Really Helps
Nonprofit organizations often need something very specific: a vehicle at the right time, a space, expertise, or a few extra hands. Many companies have exactly that and don’t even realize it.
We are a mobility service provider; vehicles are our day-to-day business. Of course, providing three minibuses for a week involves some effort on our part as well. At the same time, we know that for the Arche, this will determine whether the vacation trip can take place as planned.
Just as important is how the aid is received. Social service organizations operate on limited resources. Every application, every inquiry, and every round of coordination takes time—time that is then taken away from the children. The Arche team recently thanked us for our “long-standing and completely hassle-free collaboration.” We take that as the greatest compliment. The Arche can rely on us for planning. This takes some pressure off an organization that’s already facing significant challenges.
Thank you to everyone involved
A heartfelt thank you goes to the team leaders, Ms. Schultz and Mr. Haustein from Die Arche, who organize the trip every year.
Thanks also to our colleagues Ina Kirstein and Lars Steinert , who ensure internally that vehicles and gifts are ready on time.
It’s wonderful that we were able to contribute again this year to enabling children and young people to enjoy a carefree holiday together.
